From time to time we would like to present an historical by-line about railways, equipment, places etc. Members contribution would be much appreciated. Perhaps you have something not quite up to the level of research or popularity required for inclusion in the Railway Observer, more of a snippet than an in-depth treatise, we could place it here.

Our premier locomotive is undoubtably Wab794. Restored and leased to the Feilding Steam Society. It features as part of the Wellington to Auckland express passenger service from time to time.

The life story of an "A" class locomotive.
Now long gone from service it started life in 1911, built by A & G Price, Thames. Written off in 1966 it had travelled 1.5 million miles.
